[opensuse-arm] Still no wlan on Raspberry 3
Hi, Installing the latest aarch64 XFCE image (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/ARM:/Factory:/Contrib:/Rasp...), I still cannot get wifi to work. Is there any chance it will be available soonish? Please read the previous mailing list responses and Bugzilla ticket: You need to uncomment a line in a config file and re-run mkinitrd when using 42.2's 4.4 kernel like the link above does. The Tumbleweed 4.8 kernel still has no support for rpi3 Wifi. Kernel 4.9.rc3 from Kernel:HEAD is still busted due to symbol errors and I don't think it would have Wifi support either. Kernel 4.9.rc3 from Kernel:HEAD is still busted due to symbol errors
This should be fixed as soon as kernel:HEAD updates to v4.9-rc4
and I don't think it would have Wifi support either.

and that the solution is to disable CONFIG_MODVERSIONS. But that's apparently not what has been done in our master branch (and yet 4.9-rc* kernels from Kernel:HEAD work on x86_64).
The merge commit message above promised a patch by Nick Piggin. CC'ing Michal Marek. CONFIG_MODVERSIONS is not an ARM driver but a very core setting that I do not feel qualified to simply turn off on our master branch. If Jeff wants to do that temporarily, that would be fine with me, but I cannot judge what side-effects that may have for KMPs and what-not.

Hi Andreas, I'm afraid I cannot find the hint for uncommenting the line in the config file. I've found one topic in the opensuse mailing list archive, on https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-arm/2016-03/msg00147.html but that does not give the solution you suggest. Neither does the one item in bugzilla I found: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=989713 or the link that is given in comment #2 in that bugreport: http://www.spinics.net/lists/kernel/msg2268674.html So I'm somewhat lost here. Can you give some more detail of where I should search? regards, Jogchum -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

What I did: 1. Install bcm43xx-firmware package 2. Run /usr/sbin/install-brcmfmac 3. Delete "sdhci_iproc" from first line (add_drivers) in /etc/dracut.conf.d/raspberrypi_modules.conf 4. Uncomment last line (omit_drivers) in the same file 5. Run "mkinitrd -f" 6. Reboot Not all steps are probably strictly necessary, e.g. install-brcmfmac seems to be run via /etc/modprobe.d/50-brcmfmac.conf when you try to load brcmfmac module. Hi Michal, This works! No need for installing the package, since it is part of the initial image, but editing /etc/dracut.conf.d/raspberrypi_modules.conf etc. di the trick. Thanks!
