[opensuse-arm] Getting software for ARM
What is the current situation for getting more packages? E.g. 13.2 x86 has a lot of other repos with tools. Is there something similar for ARM? The fedora nedit works on factory, but I'm looking for others too, like jailkit. Are the source packages for factory available? Can't find a repo for them. Same thing, the repos in obs just need to enable arm as build target. If your favorite repository doesn't, just let the maintainer of that repository know.

If something is not available in obs, just create a package in your home repo and enable compilation for arm.

I would like to add my 5c. I think that we currently is limited by armv7 build power, so this could be a reason not to enable armv7 for specific large project. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org

Not really I'm afraid. It doesn't tell me where I might look e.g. for the equivalent of http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/security/openSUSE_13.2/ for factory armv7l. Or even for 13.2 armv7l, which might be close enough for things to run. https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/openSUSE:Factory Shows 8003 packages. armv7l is nowhere to be seen, armv6l has 8002 of those 8003 disabled (in ports). It looks like all the talk is about x86 factory, but I was asking for ARM packages. I'm having trouble finding any beyond http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv7hl/factory/repo/oss/ There are ARM images of oS 13.2, but I can't find the repo for those packages either. I'm surprised other repos aren't ARM enabled, I thought oS was available for ARM generally. Maybe I'm naive, but I'd expect things like editors or non-hardware-related utilities to compile as-is. Using obs is nice in theory, I'll try again, but in the past I always ended up giving up because it's just too cumbersome and too much of a waste of time. Often that is because there aren't straightforward instructions and the basics aren't explained.
