This might have been caused by a USB stick that was attached to the Pine64. To me it looks like sometimes[tm] the devices are not found in the same order, so grub tries the wrong device. Why it even manages to start grub in this case is beyond me, so that might be totally not the problem. I removed the USB stick, so only the microSDXC card is present, that contains the OS. Next error: Sometimes to boot drops into the u-boot prompt, as no storage devices seem to be found.
