Problem compiling firefox (glib-problem?)
![](https://seccdn.libravatar.org/avatar/01544d84090956ff1657e4081b5f9bc6.jpg?s=120&d=mm&r=g)
Dear all, I tried to compile firefox (1.0rc2) but I keep getting error-messages like this:
GLib-ERROR **: could not reallocate 34359738368 bytes aborting...
Somebody from the firefox list told me to compile glib 1.2.10 again. I tried, but ./configure stops with:
checking host system type... Invalid configuration `x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu': machine `x86_64-unknown' not recognized
checking build system type... Invalid configuration `x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu': machine `x86_64-unknown' not recognized Can anybody give me a hint please, what's wrong here?
Thank you, Gery

The glib error seems to be in many applications. Even when starting "xmms":
gbauer@gernot:~> xmms
GLib-CRITICAL **: file gutils.c: line 265 (g_basename): assertion `file_name !=NULL' failed.
How can I re-install glib? Thanks, Gery
