Hi, -- is anyone out there who has successfully installed and run SuSE 9.3 on a FSC V810 Celsius Opteron 250, 2 CPU with 8 GM Memory and Bios 1.07? We think of updating from SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.4.21-280, so my questions are: - Is the Kernel Panic issue which we experienced with SuSE 9.2 (and was also reported on this list) resolved in 9.3? - are Nvidia FX 4000 graphics cards running in accel mode on X.org 6.x? - any other known issues? Thanks, regards, chr.hartmann

We think of updating from SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.4.21-280, so my questions are:
- Is the Kernel Panic issue which we experienced with SuSE 9.2 (and was also reported on this list) resolved in 9.3?
With the updated BIOS (don't know version number): Yes.
- are Nvidia FX 4000 graphics cards running in accel mode on X.org 6.x?

You can try the 9.3 LiveDVD and test first, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

I could install it on my v810 test machine with bios 1.05. However, booting the newly installed system sometimes crashes the kernel. Both in normal boot and in failsafe boot - although with different panics: =================================================================== Normal boot: Bootdata ok (command line is root=/dev/hdb8 vga=0x317 selinux=0 splash=silent console=tty0 resume=/dev/hda2 console=tty console=ttyS0,38400n8) Linux version 2.6.11.4-20a-smp (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)) #1 SMP Wed Mar 23 21:52:37 UTC 2005 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009b800 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009b800 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000d0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 00000000cff70000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 00000000cff70000 - 00000000cff7f000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 00000000cff7f000 - 00000000cff80000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 00000000cff80000 - 00000000d0000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fec00000 - 00000000fec00400 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fff80000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) SRAT: PXM 0 -> APIC 0 -> Node 0 SRAT: PXM 1 -> APIC 1 -> Node 1 SRAT: Node 0 PXM 0 0-9ffff SRAT: Node 0 PXM 0 0-7fffffff SRAT: Node 1 PXM 1 80000000-cfffffff Bootmem setup node 0 0000000000000000-000000007fffffff Bootmem setup node 1 0000000080000000-00000000cff6ffff ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x00] lapic_id[0x00] enabled) Processor #0 15:5 APIC version 16 ACPI: LAPIC (acpi_id[0x01] lapic_id[0x01] enabled) Processor #1 15:5 APIC version 16 ACPI: LAPIC_NMI (acpi_id[0x00] high edge lint[0x1]) ACPI: LAPIC_NMI (acpi_id[0x01] high edge lint[0x1]) ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x02] address[0xfec00000] gsi_base[0]) IOAPIC[0]: apic_id 2, version 17, address 0xfec00000, GSI 0-23 ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x03] address[0xe0000000] gsi_base[24]) IOAPIC[1]: apic_id 3, version 17, address 0xe0000000, GSI 24-27 ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x04] address[0xe0001000] gsi_base[28]) IOAPIC[2]: apic_id 4, version 17, address 0xe0001000, GSI 28-31 ACPI: INT_SRC_OVR (bus 0 bus_irq 0 global_irq 2 high edge) Setting APIC routing to flat Using ACPI (MADT) for SMP configuration information Checking aperture...
