This will result in a 64 bit object, and you cannot link a 32bit library then. "export CC='gcc -m32'" should help before configuring Then only 32bit object are created.

Hi Milan, Try the -m32 flag for gcc, it will create object/executable for 32/bit environment (it will still run on 64-bit Linux) and then you can use the 32-bit libraries. Best wishes, Ödön On Tue, 2004-02-10 at 14:56, Milan Gabor wrote:

Yes, this is the reason. You tried (or configure tried) to link an amd64 64bit program together with an i386 32bit library.
Is there anyway to solve this problem?
Best would be if you have access to the library compiled for amd64 or to its source (so you can compile it on your own). Failing that you can also compile for 32bit on the amd64 machine, although that's of course not how be ;-) Install the relevant bla-32bit-devel packages (for the 32bit libraries), and then use CC="gcc -m32" for configuring/compiling your program. Ciao, Michael.
Hi!
I am looking to purchase an Amd64 motherboard and am looking for
recomendations. I was looking at the Asus K8V mobo but see there is some
unsuported chipset on it at this time, does anybody have one of these running
Suse, or know what function is not supported?
Thanks Mike

The promise chip has problems - and for the VIA SATA ones you need the PatchCD that I have build (see the archives of this list). Other than that, the K8V Deluxe works fine under my desk ;-) Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SuSE Linux AG, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

The K8V has two SATA controllers, a VIA one and a Promise one. The VIA one should work - but I haven't tested my personal system since I bought some IDE disks. Sounds very interesting ..... what problems does the promisechip have then ? On another note. I'm also considering to jump on the AMD64 train ... but am still reluctant. And will the AMD64 release-cycle of the Pro version go hand in hand ?? Johan

Doesn't work under Linux ;-)

Yes, 9.1 Professional will be available for both 32-bit x86 and 64-bit AMD64 at the same time... Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SuSE Linux AG, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
I am using ASUS SK8N with Kingston PC2700 ECC Registred memory (2x256MB)
and installed and ran fine. I do not use SATA disks neither onboard sound.
nVidia website has updated source drivers for AMD64 and they compile plain
simple.
