I am installing from a full DVD obtained at the recent Los Angeles Linux Conference/Expo.I haven't yet found the chipset that is being used in the system. The disk works successfully on my older AMD Athlon.
1) When system is started, the green openSUSE "Welcome" screen appears, followed by the openSUSE Installation choices menu screen. When the “Install” option is chosen, system displays a window showing “Loading Linux Kernel” (with an increasing % progress line).
3) Instead of the expected License Agreement and Language screen, the system displays AMIBIOS information including hardware test details, RAID details, "ISOLINUX 4.04 ...",then goes back to the openSUSE “Welcome” screen. System repeats this tight loop until I choose “Install from hard disk” option from the openSUSE installation choices menu screen. System then loads Win7.
It seems different, but on several of the computers I have installed 12.1, I have needed to add nomodeset to the install kernel (ATI graphics) to be able to install (or one was to use the rescue system). On mine it didn't loop, it just seemed to crash and corrupt the graphics, but adding nomodeset is easy enough to try. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 12.1 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-amd64+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-amd64+owner@opensuse.org
