You need to create a new /etc/modprobe.conf
via command: /sbin/generate-modprobe.conf | tee /etc/modprobe.conf ?
The 2.6 modutils don't read the 2.4 modules.conf because they use a slightly different syntax.
It needs an alias eth0 <yournetworkdriver> and maybe a few other aliases if you use other drivers. Just copy these lines from the old modules.conf
A distribution update would do all this automagically, but that's not written yet.
And what about is with MAKEDEV for device nodes? I cannot load or use sound modules on ASUS Laptop (32-Bit) and Shuttle AMD64. There are the same problems (cannot found symbols). I did run depmod -a already. Where can I read about new sound module options? Lothar.
