A couple of questions: 1. Can the Patch CD be used to install off an FTP server?
If you can make the iso look correct I'd think so. I've got no idea how to do that.
2. Can the Patch CD be used to install a 32-bit SuSE 9.0 system? Is there ANY way to build a SuSE 9.0 32-bit system to boot off a VIA VT8237 SATA controller? Or in that case would I be better off with Parallel ATA for now?
My experience so far is that it will *not* work. I've got one serial and one parallel drive - I'm going to make the serial an XP (blech!!) and the parallel Suse. I've tried for 2 weeks now to make some form of linux work off the serial drive, but no luck. Mandrake will boot off the SATA, but it won't run PPP. Suse should run PPP ok, but it won't install to the SATA. Stick to parallel for now and save yourself a lot of grief! Patience, persistence, truth, Dr. mike
