Hi, Just installed SuSE10 on an AMD64 (hence cross posting). I prefer Gnome and have been running with that for a few days, and have noticed a pretty serious problem. For no apparent reason the CPU utilization will go to 100% after I've been using the machine normally. If I look with top there are 3 candidate processes for hogging the CPU: gnome-settings, gnome-panel and nautilus. Looking around on the net, the nearest thing I can find is a bug with gnome-vfs (in Gnome 2.8) that caused similar problems and seemed to be related to nfs mounted home directories (which mine are). Has anyone else seen this behaviour - other weird slow-downs? Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? I saw a suggestion for deleting .gconf and .gconfd - but that has not fixed the problem for me. Best wishes, Jon.
