My problem was that the system just hangs every second for 100~200 msec. Felt like the system had a severe hiccup. Adio and video was unusable. Network connection was working though! The patch is specifically for the corrupt ASUS EEPROM, don't know if this make any difference on your ABIT mobo. Regards, JR. Marshall Kiam-Laine wrote:
***hi Jens, do you think my problem with the Abit KV8 might be the same ? [net cards "configured", but still cant get out].

The following patch to net/sk98lin/skvpd.c was put together by Marc Bouget, mbouget at club-internet.fr.
This patch works around a corrupt EEPROM (VPD?) in the ASUS K8V Deluxe SE motherboard ethernet chipset and allows the network driver to work correctly. We have written to ASUS and the sk98lin maintainers but have not heard anything back.
