However, I would expect the selected config to remain
after hibernation, assuming the Ethernet connection hasn't been
disconnected. A computer in hibernation is simply in a power saving
mode and shouldn't change.
Yeah, I would tend to agree with that. OTOH I can't easily dismiss
John Andersen's argument from yesterday.

I often put my laptop into hibernation and never for that reason lose
my routing configuration.  (Rebooting a different case though.)

Oh sure, me too. A few times a day - but I only use one network
interface, ever.

I tested with leap 42.3 last night. I closed my ssh connections and Tbird,
but left FF, konsole, konqueror and kate running (only local files open in
kate, none via the sftp_kioslave) and then put the laptop to sleep. Both wlan0
and eth0 are configured. The box woke up just fine and back to wlan0 without
issue (eth0 was not connected).

E.g.,

$ ip addr
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group
default qlen 1
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 ::1/128 scope host
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
2: wlan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state UP group
default qlen 1000
link/ether 24:77:03:21:56:3c brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet 192.168.6.104/24 brd 192.168.6.255 scope global wlan0
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 fe80::2677:3ff:fe21:563c/64 scope link
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
3: eth0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state
DOWN group default qlen 1000
link/ether e4:11:5b:25:bf:d0 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

This is what I recall from the last time it slept. So if 15 is behaving
differently, then something has changed (I have wicked and no NM running)
