I believe I've already mentioned this but I'll make it quite clear.
I printed the cover page of a PDF E-book and it printerd OK.

So it is only pages generated by Libre Office that fail?

Try printing to ps file, then clean it:

ps2ps p.ps p2.ps

and print the resulting file.
