Not sure what procmail has to do with it, I never use it. With the
default postfix config, mail to root is delivered to root's mailbox
at /var/mail/root.

Well, it is a fact, if procmail is used then it can not deliver to root.
There was a release note or FAQ entry many years ago, when SuSE changed
from sendmail to postfix.


To read it, go into a shell, switch to root, run 'mail'. To have it
delivered to a user account, amend /etc/aliases.
