I don't have the original posting anymore - if this is a 'normall' PC
might have some luck using a (USB2-only) add-on card.  I did have
scanner issues before (
and it was the USB3 (specifically, the xhci driver) causing the

A few days ago I tried moving the cable to the USB hub that forks to
the printer and the scanner to the USB2 port.  No help.

Often it doesn't matter which port you connect to, it depended on the driver
that handles the port (on my laptop all ports are handled by xhci)...

Good idea about the bug report, I will take a look at it.

If you're in for a read also look at the (longer) one that mine is marked a
duplicate of.

And one more thing, see if VueScan works ( It's
payware, but there is a free demo, and ISTR that that one did work with my
Epson when sane had issues with it...
