That worked for me.

I've also got that installed, but I still get no thumbnails nor
previews.

kdegraphics-thumbnailers-15.12.3-15.1.x86_64

I'm on tumbleweed and i didn't have PDF viewing in dolphin either. I
downloaded the same file as you but version 16.04.3-1.1, i then had to
configure dolphin to allow view for Postscript/PDF and it works now.
