To debug a boot problem, the parallel starting of tasks is annoying,
because the logs are difficult to sort.

Is there a way to unset this feature and start each task one after
the other?

In 13.2, there is the file /etc/sysconfig/boot and the option
RUN_PARALLEL="yes" (or "no", I assume).

no boot file. Dunno if creating one will suffice

Also configurable in Yast2
under /etc/sysconfig Editor (etc/sysconfig/boot/RUN_PARALLEL yes/no).
Is this still there in Leap?

don't see anything relevant

but may be some clues here:
