It's on the first screen after 'boot from hard disk' and 'installation'.

Sorry, that was my mistake. I was booting from the "Live" pen drive and
not the install. However, now that that's straightened out, when I get
to the network adapters, there's no mention of network manager. While
that may be OK on a desktop system, network manager is essential on an
notebook. Or is making a notebook essentially useless when elsewhere
now a "feature"?

For me, NetworkManager is there, and a utility called connection editor
appears in KDE.
When you go into yast, it will warn you about network being handled
by networkmanager service, which is handled by systemd

After all is said and done, more is said than done.
