try booting with i915.powersave=0

Kernel crashes on boot, after the line about "doing fast boot".

No crash here on Dell desktop with i845G (rev01) booting 12.3 with kernel-desktop-3.7.10-1.1. Full cmdline:
root=LABEL=suse123 ipv6.disable=1 noresume splash=verbose CPUFREQ=off video=1152x864@60 vga=794 3 i915.powersave=0

Go figure... I'll try again.

By the way, this:

Section "Monitor"
#CER - monitor dies if DPMS activates.
Identifier "Default Monitor"
Option "DPMS" "off"
EndSection

fails too. I wrote it in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-monitor.conf
