It is not based in time of use, but in actual usage. Flash media, including
SSD, have a limited number of write operation allowed. After that, they are
no longer usable.

You can increase the odds. Be sure to mount "noatime", for instance.

Is relatime a valid option in fstab for openSUSE >= 12.3, kernel is
3.9.8 and/or 3.10.0

Saw discussion on web that relatime would be happy medium rather than as
extreem as noatime:
"relative atime only updates the atime if the previous atime is older
than the mtime or ctime. Like noatime, but useful for applications like
mutt that need to know when a file has been read since it was last
