May I suggest you ask on the opensuse forum? There are people there with experience on repairing grub2 ;-)

Thanks, Carlos, I may do that.

But what I have decided to do is to wait for the Gold to become available and then install that[*]. However, finding out how to repair grub2 "crashes" would be most useful for any future "crashes".
