Not perfect, but nothing as complex as a distribution can be, there are
too many permutations of configuration, etc... Almost all the issues
I've had can be related to proprietary hardware or third-party /
additional repositories.

I'd go further.
Compare with Microsoft.

Look at the delays they had bringing out Vista and 7
and look at the number of critical post-release bugs
that had to be (still are being) fixed.

And they do have the resources and processes for QA.
