Remove (at least temporarily) your Java plugin. All your crashes point
to the IcedTeaPlugin.so.

Ah hah! Will do and I'll report back. I've got to shuffle that drive back
into
the laptop to check. So it's going to be an hour or so. Wonder why the java
plugin went nuts? I haven't loaded anything special in that regard, just what
11.3 pulls in. Thanks.

Firefox won't even start in safe mode -- or under a new login -- or
under root.
Here are the latest with -safe-mode, etc..:

me:

Crash ID: bp-208b0dd8-7a47-4d4d-aea8-dfb382101230
Crash ID: bp-29ddbb2d-cce9-4984-b3e0-c9e562101230
Crash ID: bp-35bf56d9-207e-4e44-8b5e-3bb012101230

root:

Crash ID: bp-221cb60f-558d-4d9a-81b2-646512101230
Crash ID: bp-56017740-99fc-4f08-8e14-28a1e2101230

Any other guesses?

No, since my first guess is still my guess. You are still crashing in
IcedTeaPlugin.so@0x9409

So how about just doing what I proposed?
safe-mode is only for addons not for plugins.
