I'm getting a new computer I'm going to use the same hard drive if I put

put the hard drive in and turn it on ?

It varies... sometimes it works without a single change, sometimes it is very
difficult - with
variations in the middle.

Just try :-)

First hurdle is grub. Then there is fstab. Then the modules included in the
ramdisk (initrd) might
be wrong. Then there is video configuration (start in runlevel 3 instead).

If you get into problems in the way, ask, and we'll try to help :-)
