Huh? It works already w/ labels, via /boot/grub/device.map.

Of course, one has to execute grub-install again after partition
changes. This is simply part of the repartition process, just like
calling fdisk or such before. No ranting makes omission of that
step any less an error. Oh yes, and no rant about "grub bad, lilo
good" would have made lilo automagically adapt to the new
partitions either. There one has to execute lilo, just the same.
