Since this share that lives on a samba server does not
have any users except root, i never can auth. So in yast->samba server
and on the ldap tab, is this where i enter the info to the AD server?

The YaST Samba Client module handles the domain join functionality you
need.

After you managed to configure this try to resolve one of the users
maintained by AD by calling

id "<Your Domain Name>\\<Login Name>"

This uses the default separator '\' and therefore if has to be escaped
by prefixing an additional \ char.
