There will most likely come an updated kernel rpm soon.\

Ah, now that would be nice.

Can I assume that this will occur tomorrow (29 May, European time) when
the RC1 is released?

I have no idea when a new kernel will hit Factory. From the commit list I know
that several updates are checked in.

In case those systems were setup from the Beta 3 LiveCDs, you might be hit by
bugs:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=392054
and
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=389177 (marked as dup of the
previous one).

Both are mentioned in the most annoying bugs of 11.0, beta 3
http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:Most_Annoying_Bugs_11.0_dev

One point where the problem / solution with acpi=off was discussed was on
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2008-05/msg00477.html

And then: still, this discussion belongs on -factory.
