Well, I've installed about 200 via checkinstall and found about 5% of
them with this so called problem, which IMO is none.

Sametimes the configure script use the final paths especially for
pictures, icons or man pages. Thus checkinstall do not look for them in
the source path but in the installation path. Thus it finds it only
after make install.
