I want to have the correct one, hptmv, installed, but I really don't see
where I should edit to make this happen.
I can't daddy the system to unload and load manually after each reboot.

Advice, please...

I don't find hptmv on my system, so I'm guessing this is a third party driver you want to use instead of the shipping open source driver, right? So the "solution" isn't something that needs to apply to everyone, just to your system

What you can do, in /etc/modprobe.conf.local, is to say

install sata_mv modprobe hptmv

Thus, when the system tries to load the sata_mv module, the hptmv module will get loaded instead

That's an idea.. I'll try that one.
No, hptmv is the driver distributed by Highpoint, but it's open source, so I guess it's just a matter of time until it's in the kernel distro? Find it at the bottom of the page http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA/bios_rr1820a.htm#MacDrivers
