I understand this, Carlos, but it presumes everything up to and including the 
drives built-in controller and firmware are functioning normally. When I 
encounter problems like the OP is describing, I want to see everything the 
manufacturer's tools can tell me before deciding how to proceed... especially 
if they're free to download. ;-)
