This doesn't really help you, but those programs are broken and should be
fixed by their maintainers. The only reliably correct way to get to the
kernel source is through the symlink in the /lib/modules directory (now that
must be named the same as the kernel, otherwise nothing will work)

That should be solved by editing the top level Makefile in the source
directory
