Has anybody managed to get unixODBC working in SuSE 10 (amd64)?

I tried Sven's advice in the wiki, but unfortunatly it does not work.
This is the error I get in the log:
--<snip>--
PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library
'/usr/lib64/php/extensions/unixODBC.so' -
/usr/lib64/php/extensions/unixODBC.so: symbol __cxa_finalize, version
GLIBC_2.2.5 not defined in file xxodbc.so with link time reference in
Unknown on line 0
--<snip>--

I just wonder how this has been tested and why do they even bother to
include the php4-unixODBC package in the distribution if it does not
work (And then for a number of distribution releases also!)
Or does it work for certain configurations and not for others?

Does anybody have a system where this works out-of-the-box?
