Fixed it...

If I ran wget as myself all worked fine - but if I ran wget as root it failed.

For some reason there was a .wgetrc file in roots home directory which simply had 2 entries in it
proxy-user=
proxy-passwd=

I removed the file and it worked first time....

Subject: [SLE] Problems with YOU and firewall.

Having probs with getting YOU to work behind my firewall..

I've read the sdb articles and done some more reading and done the
following...

1 modified /etc/wgetrc and added the following
passive_ftp = on
http_proxy=http://<proxy_server>:<port>
proxy-user=<username>
proxy-passwd=<password>
use_proxy = on

And also after some inbestigating modified /etc/sysconfig/online_update
to set the following fields:
PROXY_USER
PROXY_PASSWORD

And also ran SuSEconfig just in case...

from the command line I can now do
wget www.suse.de

and it works perfectly....

But if I try and use YOU I get an error that it can't communicate with
www.suse.de and to check my connection.

What am I missing?

TIA
RikD
