right on - burning from the console simply rocks. ive got 4 bash scripts
that i use (all based on cdrecord) to burn cds, one copies a cd, one makes
audio cds from mp3's, one writes an ISO image to a cd and one just takes
whatever data is in a directory and makes a cd from it. couldnt be easier.
whats awesome is the remote possibility of it. for example, if i want to
work at home but a customer calls needing a cd, i simply call up someone at
the office and tell them to go drop a cdr in the tray and when it ejects, put
it in the sleeve and mail it off. i can ssh in, burn the cd with a script
and walk away. and the best thing about this i have NEVER made a coaster
with cdrecord and ive used some pretty low end hardware, but with windows, i
have made plenty of coasters with easy cd and all that on high end hardware
(athlon, sony 8x cdrecorder)

simply put, the best combo for burning cds is
linux, scsi cdr, cdrecord

You need such a program for a cd copy ?? just learn one simple command:
cdrecord .. it's so easy .. you never want a graphical tool any longer
