Formating man page output as simple ascii
I inadvertently lost the message where someone asked about formatting man
page output as simple ASCII text for off-line reading. Try the following:

man ls | sed 's/.^H//g' > ls.txt

One trick -- in the above, the "^H" is a single character created by
pressing Ctrl-V followed by Ctrl-H. At least this is how it works with the
bash shell.
