It's still completely ignoring it. It's as make is compleley ignoring the else clause. Because ti still just gripes about expat.h, paying no attention to the other one:

In file included from internal_functions.c:56:
/work/build/php-4.0.5/ext/wddx/php_wddx.h:38: expat.h: No such file or directory
make[2]: *** [internal_functions.lo] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/work/build/php-4.0.5/main'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/work/build/php-4.0.5/main'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

The section I edited now looks like this:

#include <expat.h>
#include "/usr/include/xmlparse.h"

Any more ideas? Anyone even know where I can get expat.h? It's not part of the expat rpm, and I can't find an expat-devel rpm
