Subject: ftape - parport_pc on 2.4.2 kernel

Hi
I have ftape installed to use for backups, it works fine if I boot to my 2.2.16 kernel & modules.
When I boot to 2.4.2, I get in /var/log/messages, different log on parport_pc than when booting 2.2.16.

boot 2.4.2 kernel - /var/log/messages

I see a difference in the parport for pc module characteristics 2.4.2 gives:
May 15 11:13:34 basslake kernel: parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,EPP]

does
[PCSPP,TRISTATE,EPP] look like the problem ?
maybe I can compile out PCSPP,TRISTATE , and compile in SPP,PS2 ??
or is there a quick way to obtain/compile, the corrected module, parport_pc, without having to recompile
the entire kernel ??

2.2.16 - which I have no trouble with shows a different set for parport for pc:
May 14 13:14:00 basslake kernel: parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7 [SPP,PS2,EPP]

Maybe someone knows something to advise for a fix on this .
thanks for help and any advise.
