looking at this, it looks like someone is trying to "freeware" something
similar to Novell's NDS8.

good idea but it also needs to be able to add drives to existing paths
without moving data

ie
current drive has /var/develop as a directory that's getting full

just add another drive and "ADD a path statement in some form" so that both
the existing directory is used PLUS the new drive as /var/develop

aves moving and linking, especially when you only want the extra space
during a development phase.

hm.... wishfull thinking?????????
