As the news is very infrequent at this moment, I would swap them. If news becoms so frequent, we can see what we can do about it then. I think the purpose of the main page is to get people as fast to the information on the wiki as possible. I think using an rss feed might be a better way to get news (and anouncements) across, incombination with the mailinglist.
