Okay. So If I am understanding right, for the record, this is what you are saying. We can still discuss the latest MS news, Fred can still post his news messages, and we can talk about CPU cooling. The idea is that if 20 messages later the MS thread is still going, it ought to move over to Chris' lx-talk list, right? If that's the case things are good - that's better than a "kill thread" message when the thread is interesting.
I delete all off-topic messages without reading them. I don't have time to read so many messages every day, and I'm not interested in them. Microsoft & Linux news are regularly posted to e.g. http://linuxtoday.com/ so I don't see a reason why such threads should even be started here. I prefer a technically oriented list where SuSE Linux related problems are discussed. I don't say it must be this list. If people want to discuss general topics here, a new (off-topic free) list might also be a solution. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
Alex, let me get this straight, you delete all off topic posts, but your
replying to an off topic post with the words "off topic postings" clearly
written in the subject line...
BTW, I am only kidding around with ya. : -)

I agree 100%. To be perfectly honest, I am tired of following Fred Miller's copies of stuff from ZDnet, etc., and have stopped doing so. Take it elsewhere, Fred. Most of us are here because we find some sort of fault with Microsoft, some of us, I suppose, because we're really more comfortable with Unix--I wish I were one of those--but this, I believe, was intended to be a peer-to-peer help source, and I think it should stay that way. Just because we are not too happy witb MS is _no_ reason to belabor the issue on a help list. And I agree with a previous poster (and Mads) that hardware issues related to running Linux _do_ belong here. Let's keep _this_ list the tech list, and let the OT stuff go to the new OT list that Herr Klipper (name?) is operating. --Two cents' worth from WA2SAY.
Can we now please stop this thread? I don't think everybody wants to know the opinion of all 1400 subscribers and I think this thread is the longest of today. (When this mail arrives, it will be my 359th of today, normally I get only 200.) The new list is already created and the first posts of Fred Miller have already arrived there. thanks and sorry if this sounds tired, goodnight everybody,
