Making custom boot floppies (or CDs) for ftp installation.
Hi all, Sami's keyboard problem (Message-ID: <002e01c40391$d7fa68b0$2a01a8c0@akvavitix>) seems to be that the USB modules are not loaded early enough to allow him to interact with the install process. This is a problem because he can't select the manual install option to load the modules to make the keyboard work because the keyboard doesn't work... So, can custom SuSE boot disks be made so the necessary modules are loaded automatically? I've not tried loading USB or infra-red modules on installation, but SuSE does have a selection of floppy images and modules discs for a manual install. This may be the answer. You are prompted to select the modules you wish to run whilst you are doing the install. For example, I once did an ftp install, and had to load my specific NIC module in order to do so. HTH Terence

Indeed - but if you cannot interract with the machine to make your keyboard work because your keyboard doesn't work because it needs drivers you have to manually load by using your keyboard.... Yep, wasn't thinking too straight- caffeine hadn't kicked in! Can't you just use a standard keyboard to do the install- even if you have to buy one they're only a few pounds, dollars, euros now. It may save a lot of hassle. Terence
