I have been having a lot of fun (lol, just realized what I wrote :) ) with the game Racer. I have dl'ed some cars, and one other track. Cars were zip files and hence no prob to unfold. However, the track is an exe file and I'm not sure how to get at the files/program in my Linux boxen. Been using Linux for just under 3 years and .exe files haven't really been an issue untll now. Is it possible to use .exe files in a Linux box? TIA, Curtis

For free: If it's a dos exe, you can use dosemu. If it's a win32 exe, you can try wine. wine program.exe It can be tricky though. Simple exe's will run, but the more complicated they get, the more places for them to fail. There are a bunch of "pay-for" windows emulators which work better than the free stuff. VMware, etc. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation

VMware isn't a windows emulator, it's an x86 emulator. You still need a real windows installation to run windows under it. //Anders

If the exe file is a "self-extracting" zip file, you might be able to unzip it with the infozip unzip program which comes with suse. unzip self-extracting-zip.exe -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
Yep, that did it. Thanks, Curtis :-) On Tuesday 24 September 2002 09:55, zentara wrote:
