[SLE] setting root's path
Hi, In previous versions of Suse, I used to be able to add to the root's path by exporting the PATH variable in root's .bashrc file. In 6.4 this dosn't seem to work, but it still works for normal user's .bashrc. I've had to resort to adding my directory to the lines setting root path in /etc/profile. Is this the prefered place now? Why isn't root's .bashrc read like other normal users? Does root have a ~/.profile ? If not, it isn't sourcing .bashrc Out of the box, root isn't set to have that configuration. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

/guess mode on because root doesn't have a .profile. ;-) /guess mode off .bashrc is sourced from .profile add a ". .bashrc" into your .profile (the construction ". .bashrc" is *important*! but thinking twice, .bashrc sould be executed. The thing that realy drives me mad on un*x is the astonishing high number of different profiles that are executed for different logins and on different bank hollidays. <sad grin> Hope I've been not to far off...
