Looking for File Manager - Super User Mode in 8.2
I recently installed 8.2, and I can't seem to find File Manager - Super User Mode which in the KDE menu of 8.1 was under System / Configuration. Is it still around, and if so, where? Thank you. ******************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.2 Professional KDE 3.1.1 KMail 1.5.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. I could not find it either. Just make a dir on your desktop, Excute command konqueror, and set it to run as a different user, root... works for me.. -- Gary

Bryan, I have it under the KDE menu of System>More Programs, but I could not find it under the SuSE menu. I also add it to my SuSE Work menu with the menu editor. Otherwise, you can start a root Konq file manager from the shell with: kdesu konqueror Pat -- --- KMail v1.5.2 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
System->More Programs You can put a link to it on your desktop by right clicking Create New->Link to Application change to the Execute tab enter kdesu konqueror in the command line. You could also run it from the "Run Command" line in the KDE menu. Just type kdesu konqueror in the dialog box. pben On Wednesday 02 July 2003 01:00 pm, Bryan Tyson wrote:

I believe it is absent in the SuSE menu, but is in the KDE menu. What I did, since I normally add it to my taskbar, is add>application button>System>more programs>File manager-super user mode. BTW, this is a great way to add those often used apps not in the SuSE menu. Thanks to everyone who replied. Several mentioned the "System / More Programs" part of the KDE menu. Interestingly, I do not have a "More programs" choice on my KDE System menu. What would be the reason I don't have it? I am using 8.2 Pro. What other programs do you have under "System / More programs?" ******************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.2 Professional KDE 3.1.1 KMail 1.5.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. Try right clicking the Kicker Bar, picking Panel Menu, then add, then Application Button, then system, then more programs, then File Manager SU Mode... Voila it is now in the kicker bar! On Wed, 2003-07-02 at 19:06, Bryan Tyson wrote:

OK, great, I found it! Thank you for your help! I do have a question, though. Why do I see system, more programs when right clicking the Kicker bar, but when clicking the KDE start button, the system menu does not have a "more programs" choice? ******************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 8.2 Professional KDE 3.1.1 KMail 1.5.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S. Because you have two different menus there. You can go into YaST2 and set the menu to show the KDE menu with the SuSE menu included in that, but most people never change from the default SuSE menu installed. Basically it's a condensed (kde) menu and a detailed (suse) menu. The root file manager use to be in the SuSE menu, it's not now for some reason, but it is in the KDE menu.
