SpamAssassin configuration problem I think
I recently removed my old spamassassin installation and installed the SuSE rpm. Now I think that somehow it has quit working, or quit doing a real analysis. I am getting a lot of spam, and here are some headers from the last one: Subject: Turn back time on your body's biological clock! Date: Fri, 01 Aug 2003 17:03:45 -0500 X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook, Build 10.0.2616 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="1AB1D_A8CD_4._CB8_.2A" X-Priority: 3 X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=3.0 tests=none version=2.55 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp) Status: RO Content-Length: 331 Lines: 14 Notice the line "tests=none". And how does it get a score of 0 when it is pure spam? I have a suspicion that there is some switch or configuration file somewhere that I need to enable. Thanks, Henry Harpending

You didn't say what version SuSE, but if 8.2 check /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf. This is what mine said of your email: User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.4i Subject: [SLE] SpamAssassin configuration problem I think X-Virus-Scanned: by AMaViS snapshot-20020531 X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-3.4 required=5.0 tests=AWL,USER_AGENT_MUTT autolearn=ham version=2.55 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp) Status: -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. Thanks, it is indeed 8.2 and /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf was the old one: the new one was sitting there as local.cf.rpmnew. I have enabled the new one and hope things get better. BTW any idea what the AWL test is? I can't find it listed at http://eu.spamassassin.org/tests.html. Henry Harpending
