Hi List, Having switched recently from RH, and growing in confidence with almost a couple of years of Linux under my belt, I decided to implement software RAID 0 on my fresh install of SuSE 8.2. I implemented RAID 0 during the installation, with no apparent problems, however I see the following occurring in my boot log (this is hopefully the relevant part that I snipped): <3>md: invalid raid superblock magic on md0 <4>md: md0 has invalid sb, not importing! <4>md: no nested md device found <6>md: ... autorun DONE. I am not sure what this means, this is very new to me. I "googled" and it seemed that this can occur when adding to an existing array. All seems to be working okay, but I guess this is not good. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this? I especially would like to know if I need to run something like mkraid, am I automatically going to "nuke" the contents of my drives. This is on a home machine so I guess I have some latitude for implementing solutions. If more information is required please advise. Any pointers to the "fine" manuals are welcome (I just don't know where to start looking). Thanks in anticipation. -- Regards, Roland Hill

I setup software RAID when I installed 8.0, and it went smooth and has been running very nice since the install (1 1/2 yr). I have since upgraded to 8.2. Mine says the same thing, and has since the beginning IIANM. I believe it does several checks, all of which might not be applicable to software RAID. At any rate, mine has worked flawlessly for 1 1/2 years, so my suggestion is, don't fix what ain't broken. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. Thanks for this and for using your crystal ball to guess I was using software RAID! Good to see that it is likely NOT to be a problem. I will leave well alone for now. Appreciate your reply -- Regards, Roland Hill
