Is this what you're looking for? Open the application. In the same release as you, I can simply navigate to dolphin in the Gecko menu, right click and add to panel. It adds it with a larger Icon, in a different part of the panel (toward the right side). The method you indicate seems to use small icons. Both are valid and independent methods that should work normally. Not sure why Dolphin specifically cannot be added. The icon sizes are supposed to be different in each case, because the functionality is not the same. Showing a launcher when not running does exactly that, to avoid clutter on the Task Manager when it *is* running. The traditional method of adding an app to the Task Manager might be preferred if, for example, somebody frequently opens multiple Dolphin windows, since the icon will always be visible there regardless of whether the application's already opened. gumb -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, it's not the same thing. It's likethe launcher that was default in previous openSUSE releases. You can open it only once, it'sreplaced in the task bar by the open application icon. The real link I used to have was permanent, it was called "icon" in Leap, I can drag every icon from favoite menu to desktop and have a copy of the icon, but not for Dolphin jdd -- When will a Label sign her!!? https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=94&v=BeMk3WRh8QI -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Are the other icons you've successfully placed on the Task Manager for KDE/Plasma 4 or non-KDE applications? it's all from default favorites in menu (text processor, konsole...) but I lack the right clic "add to task bar" menu. I just notice I can drag the "home" icon of the "Desktop" folder to the task bar. The icon is not that of Dolphin, but the action is the same. Leap is obviously not as polished than 13.2, not a surprise given how it was a hard work! For example I had to remove it and reinstall the default one to have a resonable working. In one of the very early esponses you received when you asked the original question you were asked if you had the the widgets locked to which you never replied but kept rambling on about Dolphin or something or other. Nothing to do with Dolphin or anything else. In Leap, and in Tumbleweed, placing an item into the panel is exactly the same as in 13.2: right-click on the item in the menu found in START - whatever - and you will see the choice of placing the item in the panel. You will NOT see this option if your widgets are locked. no. It depends of the menu style. It's not available in the menu style that was default in 13.2 (I don't have leap at hand right now to say the exact name) jdd -- When will a Label sign her!!? https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=94&v=BeMk3WRh8QI -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

However, once replaced in the task bar by the open application Icon, a right click on that icon offers to start a new instance. So the same functionality is there as the old method. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Your way works with the 'new' Application Launcher Menu. The option to add to panel is missing for those of us who use the 'Classic' menu style. oh... yes the add to task bar is only missing in the menu that made it popular :-) in the (?) new default one (aka kde3 one :-) we have it and also in the full screen menu (but pnly with right clic mouse, not as touch pad) thanks jdd -- When will a Label sign her!!? https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=94&v=BeMk3WRh8QI -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If I add a Konsole, I can then start one with the icon. But it goes away so I cannot start another. Of course I could make a tab and pull it off the konsole to the desktop. Roger: I can't speak to Leap,(too busy to install now), but KDE 4.14 when you launch something, an icon for the application appears in the task manager. Right clicking the icon for the running Konsole that appears in the task bar, will show the option to start another instance. As far as I can tell, this works for every application, except those applications that deny a second instance, like thunderbird. This also works the same when classic style is in use or Application Launcher style is in use. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

In Plasma5, pressing shift and clicking on the icon will do the same. Something I find more convenient than fiddling through the context menu. Andreas -- Time flies like an arrow. Coming back with a more serious response after all: To make it even easier, it is possible to configure the middle mouse button to start a new instance (configurable in the window bar settings) -- only one click, one hand ;) -- Time flies like an arrow. There are two ways I can see to get an icon on the taskbar: 1. drag it with the mouse from the launcher menu 2. start the application, then select the option "create a starter" (or similar, I'm not running the English user interface) Option (1) does not work with the "Application Dashboard" launcher "menu", but then the Application Launcher does show an appropriate context menu entry. Actually, once the application has been started, the "starter" will behave like any other icon in the window bar; there will not be a separate "click me to start application X" icon. It's just that after the last instance of the application has terminated, there will be an icon left for quick access. So, not sure if adding the "add to taskbar" to the launcher menu setting will bring such a big benefit. Just my € 0.02 Andreas -- Time flies like an arrow.
