[opensuse] Does version 10.1 support 2 processors ..
Hi, I'm new and have installed SUSE version 10.1 on my Dell power work station with 2 700MHZ processors. Is that supported by default or do I need to do something to enable both processors? Thanks! Hmmm, you might need a kernel that is SMP, I think the kernel that is ship is single process. Or you can rebuilt the kernel with SMP source. -- Command, n.: Statement presented by a human and accepted by a computer in such a manner as to make the human feel as if he is in control. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

The SMP kernel is included. The installer will detect if there are multiple processors present and give you the correct kernel --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

No. There are multiple kernels in the distro, including an SMP kernel, and the installer will automatically install the best one for your machine. Please don't top-post. KSysGuard. GUI version. Ctrl+Esc gives you the running process list. From the main menu go to System, Monitor, KSysGuard and that'll also give you a graph monitor that you can customize. htop. Non-GUI solution that isn't as resource intensive. Lists all running processes as well as give you a quick glimpse of over-all system usage. Depending on how much information you want, you can also use something like SuperKaramba and use one of the dozens of desktop widgets... there's one that will show you the output of top... or many others that will show you things like CPU load, memory load, ethernet throughput etc etc etc. Or gtkrelm with also shows a grpahical overview of CPU load etc. C. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org
