Dear All I need some help. I never thought I would have to do this. After years of successfully installing SuSE on anything and everything, laptops, desktops, servers - from 6.0 to 9.1. I am stumped by 9.2!!! I don't know what the clever people at Novel have done but the usually fool proof installation is broken. I get the looking for some installation files hang on normal installation, with or without acpi. So I went for manual install. It then crashes on hard drive driver load - a red box comes up and it starts again. There seems to be no way out of this blind circle of recurring nightmares. Has anyone got any ideas - short of giving up on 9.2 and waiting for 10. Nick

Hi Nick, Run memtest-86. It is the last option on the Install menu. I have had 2 bad sticks of bad DDR400 512MB Patriot brand memory. Each one failed several months after purchase. Now running the third stick w/o problems. Thanks to Fry's return policy this has not cost me money. Be sure to run several hours, some errors don't show up right away. PeterB

Try disabling ACPI in your BIOS. Brana

I have P4 3200 on a MSI 865PE Neo2-P motherboard. I have two regular IDE drives, 1 GB ram and a Nividia graphics card. Any ideas? Nick

[several test-snip] Welcome to the club. Be sure your computer/motherboard is still in the supported stuff form SuSE. I'm stuck to the 8.0 distribution because of this.
