Yep there are still meny of us with older hardware , as well as with hardware with components that are not well suported. some of these boxes may not be good for desktop use but can be used for servers , printservers and routers ect..
How about xf86config or any of the other text mode tools ??
Just run sax2, u can configure your USB mouse there, it should find it for u.
